Good Monday Morning ~~
The wind is blowing its dark & gray outside,
and I have a few PumPkins .... could it be
Fall is right around the corner. lol
DH & I went camping this weekend down
Lancaster way .... I had it in my head to come
home with a few PumPkins and that I did.
Bless my Husbands heart he drove, and drove till we
found a field where they were growing.
Not an easy task at this time of year,
I could have bought a cat, a dog, a goat, some tobacco
or a truck load of corn but pumpkins not so much.
(I was told they have had trouble with
pumpkins in years past so its not a sure crop.)
When we finally found a field ... we had to locate the
Farmer, thanks to some neighbors .. we found him
a couple of large fields away.
He was an Old Order Mennonite Gentlemen around forty.
He had seven children of varying ages ... four boys, and
three girls, the boys were out helping him in the fields.
We asked if there was a possibility if I could purchase
a few pumpkins and he graciously said yes.
We walked right out and he
let me pick the ones I wanted.
We talked for a good half an hour as he was most interested
in hearing about Connecticut.
These encounters make the trips
to PA so memorable for me.
If I believed in former lives ~~ I would say
I must have lived one or two of mine in Pennsylvania !! :-)
The rain we had yesterday, and the rain we are getting today is most
welcome we are in desperate need of it.
I hope where ever you are you are getting just what you Need.
Blessing & Hugs from the Cabin ~~ Connie xox

Carmen ~~ I have my grandgirls here today, and they just asked me when we were going to make the PumPkin Fudge. lol

Hi Connie,
Isn't this rain delicious ? And the chill in the air this evening is most welcome as well. Maybe I won't loose my lawn, perennials and trees now!!
I am so ready for fall - your pumpkin story made me want to drive down to PA and do the same thing. Growing up we camped right on a Mennonite farm and my mom and the wife shared so many recipes. My mom learned to pickle and can from her and we got to help feed the livestock and it was amazing experience.
Have a wonderful week!! HugS!
I'm lovin' the white pumpkins in recent years. Something serene about them. Must be my old age!
Wind and driving rain here on Cape Cod too. I'm watching the grass return to green right before my eyes. Sad to see the summer end but eager to enjoy my favorite season of the year...FALL!
Looking forward to more of your beautiful pictures.

Good Monday Evening Connie! Ohh your making me yearn for the other side of this big state! I need some pumpkins too. What a nice story. I'm sure that farmer has been talking about you also!! Funny how school starts and it almost immediately feels like autumn. I am loving the rain today (so are my flowers!)
Hugs and blessings my friend. I'll be looking forward to chatting with you sometime soon ;)
xoxo Jenn

Hi Connie....love your post...so glad you had a great adventure to my neck of the woods. I only live about 45 min from Lancaster and I love going there and getting my pumpkins and lots of other goodies!
Your photos are beautiful and your pumpkins couldn't be any more perfect :)

I love your photos! We have had much needed rain here in NJ, I watered my flower beds to keep them alive, the rain brought back the grass!
When my grandsons were here with me for the summer we planted pumpkins, the orange variety I only have one, but the Caspers I have 6! I am so excited because they are hard to find around here, orange ones I can get. Have you tried to grow you own? I told the boys I will take photos for them as the pumpkins grow, sadly then went home and will not see them fully grown. We even (I) built the raised bed for them! Happy Fall thoughts to you!
Connie, thanks for the "uplift" on my shop! Isn't fall just the best time of year to decorate though??? I love that pumpkin with the rusty bucket too - I keep thinking it should come home with me! Have a great holiday weekend, Dawn
