Happy New Year ~~

I am still determined to be cheerful and happy,
in whatever situation I may be;
for I have also learned from experience that the
greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon
our dispositions and not upon our circumstances.
Martha Washington (1732-1802)
Ring Out the Old ~~ Ring in the New ~~
We find ourselves at the end of another decade...seems like yesterday
we were approaching 2000.....with all the dire warnings.
The news media, and most of the talking heads were predicating there
was a real good possibility that all the computers around
the world would stop at the stroke of midnight
and, nothing would work as it should.
We were told to prepare, we were advised to make sure
each household had cash on hand, a supply of water,
wood, candles, batteries, gasoline, a pantry stocked with food,
everything to be able to sustain us at home till everything
was back up, and running.
Thankfully we ushered in the new year with no
problem at all, but we here at the Cabin were Alert & Ready. lol
It may be my girl scout background or
my Catholic school education....(Nuns)
but I am a the kind of girl who likes to prepare for the worst
(as best ya can) and, hope and, pray for the best.
My DH not so much....but he does appease me, Bless him.

Any way in what seems like the blink of an eye,
its ten years later, and we are here
ready to Ring in 2010.
My hope is that it comes in quietly
and without much ado.
And as soon as we open our eyes in the morning,
(cause we never make midnight anymore.)
We will greet it with a Grateful Happy Heart
eager to see what this New Year brings.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This time, like all times, is a very good one,
if we but know what to do with it.
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
Best Wishes to You All for a Wonderful Happy New Year, filled
Hi Connie!....I love that Martha Washington quote!
I too hope that this New Year brings much better things for all. I do remember quite well the predictions of disasters that were to occur ten years ago. Let's hope that we can ease into this new decade just as we did the previous.
Happy New Year my friend!
Well Connie, fool that I am, I was in an airplane on the New Year's Eve we rang in 2000, heading toward St. Martin with my husband and inlaws for a week long vagabond cruise aboard a one hundred year old sailing vessel. I think we gave it all a moment's pause but that was about it. Things seem a bit more fragile these days however.
Hoping we get to meet each other next year when I'm in your neck of the woods!
All good wishes for a wonderful 2010,
Joanne
Happy New Year Connie!
Gosh this decade was the fastest one so far. I remember cheering in 2000 just me and the cats. Dino works for a bank and had to be there just in case...it was so depressing. But I was blessed doubly the next year to have our Lydia with us!
Wishing you and your family good health and many many blessings this year. Love and hugs ~~ Jenn
I remember all the hoopla at that time also. Tonight, I look for the blue moon, but alas it is too cloudy here. Have a Happy New Year filled with many blessings!
