An Old Irish Blessing ~~
May love and laughter light your days, and warm your heart and home. May good and faithful friends be yours, wherever you may roam. May peace and plenty bless your world with joy that long endures. May all life's passing seasons bring the best to you and yours!
We at the Cabin aren't Irish..well at least this Italian girl isn't...hubby is half Irish his Mom Dorothy Sprague, and her twin sister Shirley were the last of seven children born into a very large and fun loving Irish Family. Over the years we have carried on some of her traditions as we celebrate Saint Patrick's Day.
I was always a firm believer that everyone is Irish on Saint Paddy's Day. I'll wear a green sweater, set the table with green napkins, and place green carnations in a crock. Supper will be Ham, Cabbage and Potatoes the boys growing up didn't like Corn beef..so we changed it to Ham years ago
I'll have Irish soda bread, green cupcakes for dessert, shamrock lollipops and of course the "traditional green milk". lol My granddaughters love this as much as their Dad and Uncle did when they were young. There will be Traditional Irish Music playing in the background, and possibly the girls will dance a jig or two.
I think its wonderful to celebrate with family and food as often as we can. Saint Patrick's day is one more way to get together with the ones we love. Hope you can make Tuesday special in your own way.

Wow Connie!....I wanna come to YOUR place on St. Patrick's Day!....the only things I can match to your day are wearing a green top and having the Irish music playing and I'm half Irish! LOL!....love all of your green themed pics and graphics, very nice! Janet :)

Not a drop of irish in the house - but I still did the green thing for the kids when they were at home and made corned beef for my son and I. I get a reprieve right now, but I'll be doing it again for my grand daughter someday! I still have the sweater with the green shamrocks I wore to nursery school every year as I sang. "the Leprechauns are coming".

Set an extra plate for me...I will bring lots of Irish to your table...being I was a "DUGAN" before becoming a "DOYLE"...!!! We too will have ham, cabbage and potatoes....NO green milk...hmmmm - maybe a green "beer"...!!! I told you I was IRISH !! Love, Judy

ReplyDeleteWe will be celebrating with the American traditional version of Corned Beef, cabbage, carrots as well as the potatoes...Tried to get away from it this year BUT Catherine would have NO part of that!!!

ReplyDeleteI had our corn beef and cabbage last week! I am a bit Irish on my Dad's side, but I did nothing today to celebrate. . .had to have my celebration with a clogged shower drain and $100's of dollars later, yikes!
