Oh What Shall I Wear ?

Oh What Shall I Wear ?
This to me is an age old question, one made more
complicated by abundance, and good fortune.

In yesteryear I believe the question could be answered
quicker and without much ado. Our fore-sisters had
but ..... only a few garments to choose from,
each created by their own hand.
The one or two every day dresses they wore,
accompanied by the ever present work apron.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or the one or two "good" dresses saved for
Church and visiting friends and neighbors.
Today our lives are so much easier as we go about our
daily tasks but some how we have made it way more complex,
due in part to the blessings of choice ~~
Which leads me back to.....Oh What shall I Wear ?
  1. As someone who has designed costumes for many, many plays and musicals, one of the thing I was most frequently asked was, "Why is the underwear so elaborate? It's like another set of clothes!"
    I always reminded them, "Well ... if you had to wear the same few dresses every day and they rarely got washed ..."
  6. Love all your browns!! Hi Connie...hope your feeling good today. I just started feeling better a few hours ago ~ thank goodness! I'm wearing my smile now :-)
    Your pictures are beautiful. Wouldn't it be nice if we only had a few things to wear and it was acceptable these days. I'd be fine in brown homespuns!
    Love and hugs to you ~~ Jenn
  11. Hi, I ♥love♥ all of that clothing! A great collection, I have a few items, an old slip, a couple of baby things and a bonnet!
    I no longer ask that question, after I stopped working I downsized my wardrobe to just a few basics, makes life easier! I have a fall/winter and spring/summer tiny wardrobe with maybe 3 dressy things!
    Love your post!
  12. Connie~I just love your posts...they really make me think. I just said to my husband the other day...there is just too many choices of EVEYTHING! I wish things were simpler. And from another perspective, as a stay at home Mom..what should I wear today for me means which pair of yoga pants should I put on and which sweatshirt should I wear Iowa or Nebraska! LOL! My kids don't care what I wear and that is wonderful! So I am almost always comfy and I almost always have a smile on my face!! They didn't call me "dimples" in highschool for nothing! :) Thanks for brightening my day! Take care. ~Sarah~
    Sometimes I wish I lived back then...able to make my own clothes (as I hope to continue learning now) and it being totally OK to just wear the same few dresses. :)
